Night out in Auckland

I have completed my second week teaching in New Zealand and it is now my second weekend here.  Since I am teaching during the week, I do not get to do much else at nights because I am busy making lesson plans, so my week days aren't too adventurous.  We are trying to cram as much sight seeing as possible on the weekends, so we have another full weekend of activities planned.

Friday night was traveling into Auckland city.  We took a ferry to Auckland then took one home, it was a fun experience going on a ferry.  We walked around and explored the city for a little, then headed over to the Sky Tower for 9pm dinner reservations.  We spent a good amount of time in the gift shop buying gifts to bring home, then went up to the observation deck.  It was so pretty looking out over the city.  Then we headed up even higher in the tower to eat dinner at a really nice restaurant.  It was a revolving restaurant, so amazing views while we ate.  The food was delicious and even got to see a firework show while we ate.

After dinner, we had some time to kill before we had to catch the ferry back, so we went to the casino in the tower.  Unfortunately, I did not win any money, but one of the girls I was with won $550 on a 2 cent machine and only played $2 before she won!  So that was exciting.

This afternoon we are headed to the zoo, then tomorrow is hiking up a volcano!
